FRASER LAKE- Rose Prince was a First Nations woman who lived at the Lejac Residential School, just outside of Fraser Lake, in the 1900s. According to the Diocese of Prince George, Prince lived her life in faith, but it was the discovery of her body two years after her death that made a mark. The Diocese says she was found perfectly preserved, while others in the same burial ground were not. Catholics believe “bodily incorruption” is a sign from God. Today, she is believed to be a Catholic saint and many believe her gravesite has healing properties. Hundreds of people make the pilgrimage to her gravesite on the second weekend of July every year. The three day event started last night and wraps up tomorrow evening. For more information on Rose Prince visit the Diocese website.
