Canfor Q2 Earnings Up

VANCOUVER – The second quarter of the year has been a good one for Canfor, despite the Softwood Lumber Dispute. 

The lumber giant is reporting an operating income of 282 million, an increase of 78 million over the quarter.

The company says record high lumber prices are largely behind the increases.

Lumber was selling at an average of 598 dollars per thousand board feet.

Housing starts in the units in the US averaged 1.2 million in the second quarter, and pulp shipments rose by six percent.
