Seniors Staying Active

PRINCE GEORGE — Rain or shine, it’s important that we stay active using the local resources that are at our disposal. Age is no exception as the older residents in our community come down to the senior centres to enjoy fun activities, good food and great company.

On Tuesdays in particular, you have carpet bowling at the Prince George Senior Activity Centre. All those participating have lots of fun, including 99-year-old Mary Westlake who’s always smiling before and after her turn on the carpet. Growing up, Westlake always kept to a healthy lifestyle, whether it was the food she ate or walking instead of driving.

Activities such as carpet bowling keep these seniors going and as Angela Fretter, Events Coordinator for the Senior Activity Centre points out, it’s better to stay active when you’re older rather than doing nothing at all.
