PRINCE GEORGE — Travellers who stop by the Prince George Visitor Centre this summer may come across some local artwork. Tourism Prince George and the Community Arts Council have teamed up again for the second instalment of the Artnership Program with a focus on Indigenous artists. It provides an opportunity to feature local artists and their works for visitors to enjoy and even give their own contribution as well.

Carla Joseph is among four artists set up at the Centre over the month of August. Joseph, who’s been an artist for 23 years, was on hand Thursday morning and loves showing off her art to people. If someone buys something and brings it back home, it makes her all the more proud. The piece that she had on hand for people to see was a collaborative opportunity. “I wanted to do a piece that I could do with the community and the people who come off the trains,” said Joseph. “Even if they haven’t painted before, they can come in and add a little bit of colour.” Doing this helps her get to know the people as well, which leads to a better experience for both the guest and the artist.

Tourism Prince George hopes this Artnership will give a local connection to visitors that can lead to a story to tell back home or just something to remember their time in Prince George.

Another artist by the name of Clayton, who is a multimedium artist will be coming down to the Visitor Centre later in the month. He’ll be bringing his drums along with some of his artwork.
