PRINCE GEORGE – There are no big changes with the unemployment rate in the Prince George area.  It stood at 5.8 percent in July.  That’s considered flat by Stats Canada officials who compare the rate over 12 months.

The rate in the Cariboo region was down from 6.6 percent last July to 5.3 percent last month.  The North Coast Nechako region saw a rate of 5.8 percent last month compared to 5.5 percent in July 2017.  And the rate in the northeast fell from 7.4 percent in July 2017 to 6.6 percent last month.

BC continues to have the lowest rate among provinces at 5.0 percent while the national rate fell marginally to 5.8 percent.
