Fort St. James on Evac Alert

FORT ST JAMES – As temperatures rise, and dry conditions persist, the wildfire situation in Northern BC is continuing to worsen. Now, nearly the 1600 residents of Fort Saint James are being urged to prepare for evacuation if the forest fires come closer to the community. The Shovel Lake fire is estimated to be 31,500 hectares and currently raging about 35 kilometres away from the western border of Fort Saint James. The residents of the community received evacuation alert on Saturday. According to BC Wildfire, crews are focusing on the south side of the fire building a control line.
