Wildfire Update In CRD

WILLIAMS LAKE – Among the fires in the Cariboo Fire Centre, there are three to take note of. 

The Shag Creek fire, north of Itcha Ilgachuz Park, is currently burning at 8,410 hectares. Due to safety reasons, there are no resources currently on this fire. An Evacuation Order has been implemented by the Cariboo Regional District for properties in the area. 

The Blackwater River fire, located 72 kilometres west of Quesnel, is about 4,500 hectares in size. There is eight personnel, six pieces of heavy equipment and one helicopter is on site. Ground crews are working to establish a guard on the east side Monday. There is an Evacuation Alert in place and the Order has been expanded by the CRD. 

The Narcosli Creek fire, located 31 kilometres southwest of Quesnel, is just over 3,700 hectares. On-site, there are 104 personnel, 10 pieces of heavy equipment and five helicopters. The fire is 30 percent contained and now 80 percent guarded around the perimeter. Crews will now be working on strengthening containment lines on the west and south side.
