PRINCE GEORGE – Every two years the Para-Nordic Skiing Championships begin after the Paralympic Games and this year Prince George’s Caledonia Nordic Ski Club is the host. Only six months out from competition the medal design, mascot and early sponsors were announced at the Canada Games Plaza on Friday.

Prince George will host 140 athletes and 200 coaches from 20 different nations at the Para-Nordic Skiing Championships in February. There will be four cross-country skiing and four biathlon medal events over a period of 10 days. Organizers of the event presented the design of the medal that winning athletes will receive that features many aspects of the Prince George area and Ski Club.

Olympic athlete, Sarah Beaudry has many accolades as a biathlete, including a bronze medal at the 2014 World Junior Championships. Beaudry now lives and trains in Canmore, Alberta but came back to Prince George to take part in the first steps of preparation for the 2019 games.

The Caledonia Nordic Ski Club is doing everything they can to make sure the games run smoothly. They have been focusing on the accessibility of the facilities for people of all abilities and are bringing in a snow machine to make the skiing conditions as best as possible for the races.
