PRINCE GEORGE – A wedding of a lifetime quickly turned to Plan B for a Prince George couple due to the massive Shovel Lake wildfire.  After over a year of planning, Kelsey and Tyler Siemens learned the family cabin on the north side of Fraser Lake was under an evacuation alert, and soon an order just five days before their planned wedding.

With almost 200 guests expected for a wedding weekend of camping and celebration and just a few days to go,  Kelsey and Tyler didn’t want to cancel.  Offers of help poured in,  including the use of a private hangar owned by the BID group at the Vanderhoof Airport.

Kelsey and Tyler tied the knot on Saturday at Riverside park in Vanderhoof,  still in front of the water as planned,  and then danced the night away at the decorated hangar. In the end the bride says it was a long time coming, and she’s happy with how the wedding turned out.

The Horsnell family cabin remains under evacuation order,  and as far as the family knows it is still untouched by the largest wildfire currently burning in the province.
