Unemployment Rate Drops

PRINCE GEORGE – The unemployment rate is the Prince George area is down. Statistics Canada pegged the Prince George rate at 4.4 percent in August, down a point and a half from a year ago.
Meantime the rate in the Cariboo region is also down a point and a half from a year ago and sat at 5.0 percent last month.
Nationally the news wasn’t as good. Statistics Canada says the economy lost more than 51 thousand jobs in August. That pushed the unemployment rate up from 5.8 percent to 6.0 percent.
