Human Remains Found in Smithers

SMITHERS – Human remains have been found in Smithers.

Although police aren’t confirming her death, friends and family of 18-year old Jessica Patrick of Smithers say her remains have been found. Smithers RCMP continues to investigate the discovery of human remains.

A vigil was held in Smithers Sunday night where more than 200 attended wearing red as a tribute to Patrick and to honour other missing and murdered indigenous women.

Smithers RCMP, North District Major Crime and the B-C Coroner’s Service say they’re working to identify the body. Police didn’t say where the remains were found. No other details have been released.
