All Open Fires Allowed In Cariboo Fire Centre

WILLIAMS LAKE – As of noon Thursday, category 3 open fires will be allowed again throughout the Cariboo Fire Centre. This comes as a result of weather conditions and the decreased fire risk in the region. Campfires and category 2 open fires are already allowed again in the region. Quick reminder for anyone wanting to light a category 3 open fire, they must get a burn registration number ahead of time or call 1-888-797-1717. A burn registration number is not required to light a category 2 open fire. The BC Wildfire Service urges everyone to take precautions including: making sure there’s enough people, water and tools to control the fire; do not burn in windy conditions, create a fire guard around the fire site and never leave a fire unattended.
