PRINCE GEORGE  – The Otway Nordic Ski Centre began blazing a new trail as it will be the first Nordic Ski Centre in the province to have its own snowmaking system. The centre plans to have the system ready for this season and ready for the World Para-Nordic Skiing Championships.  Crews at the Otway Nordic Centre are preparing for Plan B if mother nature doesn’t co-operate. Early this week, work crews tapped into a well and began laying 600 meters of water pipe for a snowmaking system. The plan is to extend the skiing season at the club and ensure good snow condition to host skiing events. Grant funding to the tune of 450-thousand dollars was used to build the first phase. Plans are in the works to expand the snowmaking system.
