PRINCE GEORGE- It is small business week in BC and they’re being celebrated for being major contributors to the province’s economy. The Ministry of Jobs, Trade and Technology says BC leads the country in small business growth and employment as more than 490 thousand businesses employed over a million people last year. However, PG Chamber of Commerce CEO Todd Corrigall, says things will change for business owners with an increasing minimum wage and the Employer Health Tax in January. But, he adds, business owners are resilient and passionate about their craft.  “There are always challenges, we look at a number of industries that are currently being disrupted through technology or through different advancements, so you have to be mindful of what’s going on,” said Corrigall,”trial by fire is not something you ever want to do but, again, business owners are a resilient bunch.” The Chamber of Commerce is celebrating local businesses this Friday at the 33rd annual Business Excellence Awards.
