Fire Scare Evacuates Rec Complex In Williams Lake

WILLIAMS LAKE — A fire scare led to an evacuation at the Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex in Williams Lake Monday night.

According to a release by the City of Williams Lake, staff members called the Fire Department at around 6:30 pm when someone smelled smoke coming from the rear roof area of the pool.

The complex was evacuated and firefighters were on the scene quickly, finding the source of the smoke and extinguishing it.

Fire crews determined the threat had been eliminated and the public was allowed back in about an hour after the evacuation.
