Cannabis Regulations On Campus

PRINCE GEORGE —  UNBC and CNC have been preparing and finalizing policies for cannabis on campus and with the legalization day finally here, it’s time to put these plans into action. CNC has an impairment free campus policy, so smoking pot on any of its campuses, or in any of its buildings, is prohibited.

“For students, it’s to ensure enhancing the learning approach so that they’re not participating in classrooms under the influence of an intoxicant,” says Fred Alaggia, the executive director of Human Resources at CNC.

UNBC has designated smoking areas around the campus, but that doesn’t include cannabis. Smoking pot on campus at UNBC is banned, to ensure the health and safety of its staff and students.

“For now, we’ve done the work on the policy, we’ll be communicating with the community, and we’ll keep an eye on things, as things develop. But I know we are committed to health and safety,” says Barb Daigle, Associate Vice President of People and Risk at UNBC.
