PRINCE GEORGE- It’s official: Prince George has been awarded the bid to host the 2019 U19 Men’s Pan American Volleyball Cup. That means hundreds of athletes and officials from North, Central, and South America will visit the city for six days from July 22 to 28. Prince George Youth Volleyball Club President Dan Drezet says it’s an opportunity for local players to watch high-calibre volleyball, while he’s also hoping to create legacy programs from the revenue of the event to inspire more players. The players will be housed and fed at UNBC and the games will take place at the Northern Sport Centre. Meanwhile, Tourism PG says the event is expected to generate about 650 thousand dollars. This is the second international tournament being held in the city next year, as the Para-Nordic Skiing Championships will also take place in February.
