Williams Lake Highway Project Shutting Down For Winter

WILLIAMS LAKE — The Ministry of Transportation is about to put the brakes on a major highway project near Williams Lake.

The Highway 97 construction work currently runs from the Williams Lake Indian Reserve to Lexington Road.

The ministry says it will be preparing the project for shutdown in November as cooler temperatures won’t allow for the completion of the remaining work.

The first layer of asphalt paving for the four-laning project was recently finished, but the remaining paving, or “top lift”, cannot take place until warmer temperatures return next spring.
