Rotating CUPW Strikes Hit the Cariboo

PRINCE GEORGE — Canada’s postal strike has hit the Cariboo for the first time.

Pickets went up early this morning in both Williams Lake and Quesnel in the third week of rotating strikes. Those picketers joined over 2,300 other Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) members from across the country.

Meantime, federal Labour Minister Patty Hadju extended the appointment of Morton Mitchnick as mediator for the next four days to assist CUPW and Canada Post in reaching negotiated settlements.

In a news release, CUPW says “overburdening, overtime and overwork are all major issues in this round of bargaining.”
