PRINCE GEORGE — The British Columbia Assembly of First Nations are celebrating and remembering Indigenous people who served in the Canadian military in recognition of the 25th Aboriginal Veteran’s Day.

“We encourage all Canadians to join us in recognizing and remembering the long history of partnerships and cooperation, and the sacrifices and accomplishments in the country,” says Regional Chief Terry Teegee.

The day is separate from November 11th to acknowledge the sacrifices First Nations veterans made for our country, and the challenges they faced upon their return back home.

Many veterans were disenfranchised, meaning they were stripped of their status and denied the return home.
