MACKENZIE – The official swearing-in ceremony for the new councils around the province was held last week.

The District of Mackenzie will have their first official meeting tonight. Leading the meeting tonight is Joan Atkinson the new mayor of Mackenzie. She won the position by acclamation, facing no challengers for the position. Having 11 years of experience on council and the last 4 years as deputy mayor, she believes the community has faith in her skill set to lead Mackenzie.
