PRINCE GEORGE – The UNBC Women’s basketball team slid past the Trinity Western Spartans Friday night with a 78-77 win.

Trinity Western came out strong in the first few minutes as they established an 11-point lead. Both Canada West teams went into the game undefeated but only one could come out with the win.

In the second quarter, Maria Mongomo and Madison Landry combined for a 15 point quarter to get the Timberwolves back in the game.

It wasn’t until the final seven minutes of the fourth quarter that UNBC saw the light at the end of the tunnel and pulled ahead. The two teams went back and forth, basket for basket until only 1:30 was left on the clock. Abby Gibb hit a dangerous three that gave the Timberwolves a 76-74 lead heading into the final minute.
