PRINCE GEORGE – The City Council Chambers had a visit from Mayor Lyn Hall’s possible future competition on the weekend.

The “If I were Mayor” event was held on Saturday to give participants of all ages a chance to raise their concerns and opinions on the City of Prince George. Filling in for Hall was City Councillor Cori Ramsay, who stepped in to answer any questions participants had.

“You know I think it’s a privilege to be able to represent my city and the title of acting Mayor is a little bit daunting but it’s a privilege to really just represent the people.”

Throughout the event, each aspiring Mayor was able to try on the Mayor’s Chain of Office, tour the chambers and express an idea they would carry out if elected one day.

Along with this one-day event the city puts on school tours that offer the same opportunities. The day used to be designed for young girls but has recently expanded to include all ages and genders.

“A lot of these kids are very smart and I think they could give Lyn a run for his money,” adds Ramsay.

This is the fourth year the event has run and organizers hope to continue it for years to come.
