Inspired Health Among The Trees

PRINCE GEORGE – The keynote speaker at the Chamber of Commerce “Lunch Among the Trees” is a big thinker.

Gold-medal winning cyclist and emergency room doctor Meghan Grant earned a standing ovation at the conclusion of her presentation to a full house at the Chamber’s luncheon presentation, her passion for health care and the relationships that inspire better health care delivery are what inspired her. In fact, that inspiration prompted her to work with like-minded people open a new startup endeavour.

“So I went through the astronaut recruitment program a couple of years ago and a group of semi-finalists and finalists in that program ended up staying in touch,” she explains. “Now we have become a Start-Up made up, mostly of physicians, but a couple of engineers and scientists, who all have a passion for human health but also a passion for space exploration.  And we’re really looking to work at the intersection of those things.”

She says that would mean developing technologies for the industry that’s going to start sending humans beyond Low Earth orbit and to the moon and Mars. And if health care can be delivered to someone en route to Mars, then it can be delivered to someone in Northern BC.
