Ice Making Returns at Oval

PRINCE GEORGE – With temperatures below zero, volunteers are working hard to flood the ice oval behind the CN Centre in the hopes of being open by the weekend.

There was an ice base earlier in November,  but it melted away with the warm weather.  Now with the forecast showing cooler conditions,  a group of volunteers with the Outdoor Ice Oval Society are working hard to flood the 400-metre loop at least two times a day.

“Hopefully we can open by the weekend,  it just depends on what the weather does,”  said Lyle Dickieson, Chief Ice Maker with the Oval Society.

Once there is a good base, the water truck can be used.
