Fine Increase For Off-Road Vehicles To Protect Sensitive Habitats

Dec 4, 2018 | 9:26 AM

VICTORIA – The Province has introduced an increase in fines for improper use of off-road vehicles and snowmobiles.

Those who take their off-road vehicles into sensitive habitats, such as all BC Parks, will be fined $575. Previously, the fines were only $230 or $345 depending on the violation.

With caribou considered a species at risk, the BC government set aside $27 million over three years to establish the Provincial Caribou Recovery Program. An important part of the recovery program plans to reduce the effect of winter backcountry recreation.
