Prince George Police Cars Full Of Food Not Criminals

PRINCE GEORGE – RCMP in Prince George were busy on Sunday partaking in their 3rd annual “Pack-A-PC” event.

A police car was parked in front of each Save On Foods location for shoppers to fill with non-perishable food items.

“The community is amazing. My first year of doing this I was so humbled. Kids would go to their parents and say, ‘Mom, dad we need to go grocery shopping,’ and they’d go ‘No we got groceries yesterday,’ ‘No, we need to go shopping for the seniors’. And they would come out, people would bring baskets of groceries to us. It was just humbling,” says event organizer, Bev Livingstone.

Although most of those who take part in donating are just out for their weekly grocery shop, Livingstone says it can be a great family event.

“We just have fun with it, you know we let kids come and partake and learn what it’s like to receive donations from people. They get right into it and they get in the vehicles and they put stuff in and they hand out stuff. It’s just awesome to have and the community just loves it. They think it is one of the best they’ve seen.”

Whether it was money, a gift card or a non-perishable food item, all donations are presented to the Prince George Council of Seniors on Monday.

The total from this year’s fundraiser is not in yet but the RCMP hope to beat last years 22 police cars being filled and over $4,000 in cash and gift cards.
