Snow Budget Snowballs

PRINCE GEORGE – The warmer temperatures are keeping snow off the ground for now,  and one might think its helping the city’s snow budget.

Turns out the snow budget is already a couple of million dollars higher than anticipated after February’s massive snow event.  During that month alone, 13 thousand dumptruck loads of snow were removed from city streets enough to fill the CN Centre four times.

For 2018, $9 million dollars has already been spent on snow removal, forcing the city to look to reserve funds to make up for the shortfall of $2 million.

Talks are getting underway this week in preparation for the 2019 snow removal budget.
