Coyote Controversy

Dec 14, 2018 | 2:19 PM

PRINCE GEORGE- There is an abundance of wildlife in the region and sometimes those animals make their way into city neighbourhoods. Thanks to community Facebook pages, sightings are shared and neighbours know when a potentially dangerous animal is roaming nearby. Lately, residents have been warning others of coyotes but conservation officers say they typically aren’t a threat unless they’re acting aggressively toward humans. They recommend fencing your yard, bringing small pets inside, clearing brush, and installing a motion sensor light to deter coyotes and other predators from your property. The Conservation Officer Service says it has received about five reports of coyotes in the last month and a half. If an animal acts aggressively, contact the RAPP line at  1-877-952-7277.
