PRINCE GEORGE - The Spruce Kings took down the Surrey Eagles Friday night during their annual "Drop the Gloves and Sock It To Em" game.

Fans held on tight to bags of warm clothing and winter gear as they patiently waited for the Kings to score. Dustin Manz stepped up and got the puck past Surrey's goalie with just minutes left in the first period giving fans the chance to scatter the ice with donations.

The second period came to a scoreless end keeping it 1-0 heading into the third.

With just the final 20 minutes left in the game, the Eagles got a goal to tie it up. The Spruce Kings answered minutes later with another goal from Manz.

Prince George took the win and gave all the donations to Saint Vincent De Paul.

The two teams will go round two Saturday night at 7 pm inside the Rolling Mix Concrete Arena.
