Winless Weekend For Spruce Kings

PRINCE GEORGE — After dropping their game Friday to the Merritt Centennials, the Spruce Kings fell 5-2 to the Cowichan Valley Capitals Saturday. 

The Capitals took control of the game early scoring two goals in the first eleven minutes. 

Spruce Kings captain Ben Poisson was the only scorer for the Kings netting both goals in a losing effort. 

The Spruce Kings then dropped the second game of the weekend 3-0 to the Victoria Grizzlies.

Grizzlies goalie Kurtis Chapman made 41 saves in the game to get the shutout.

The Spruce Kings took a total of eight penalties in the loss including two misconducts.

Despite three losses in a row the Spruce Kings still sit in first place in the Mainland division, tied at 54 points with the Chilliwack Chiefs.  

The Spruce Kings next game will be at home against the Cowichan Valley Capitals this Friday, January 11 at Rolling Mix Concrete Arena.
