UPDATE: Youth Taken Into Custody Following Lockdown At Kelly Road Secondary

PRINCE GEORGE — Update: The Prince George RCMP has released more details into this morning’s lockdown at Kelly Road Secondary.

Cpl. Carmen Kiener says a weapon was located and a youth was taken into custody.

There were no injuries.

Earlier: A chaotic start to the school day at Kelly Road Secondary School today.

School District 57 Superintendent of Schools Marilyn Marquis-Forster confirms the school was briefly locked down.

“This morning at 8:53 the office was alerted that there was a threat within the building, and was locked down at 8:55,” she told CKPG Today. “The RCMP were called in the next few minutes and the threat was neutralized. The threat has been removed and the all clear was given at 9:15.”

She adds the situation “turned out to be very easily deal with through the RCMP.”

CKPG Today has reached out to the Prince George RCMP for more details but has yet to hear back.
