Cougars’ Gauthier Named Goaltender Of The Week

PRINCE GEORGE – Cougars goalie Taylor Gauthier gets rewarded following his four-game performance this week as the team wrapped up their road trip and begun their return home. Gauthier was named the WHL Eli Wilson Goaltending Goaltender of the Week and league nominee for the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week. 

In four games, Gauthier posted a 3-1-0-0 record, stopping 97 of 102 shots for a 0.951 save percentage, 1.26 goals-against-average and two shutouts. 

The 2019 NHL draft prospect started the week off with a 36-save shutout against the Tri-City Americans. Despite a 4-2 loss to Spokane Chiefs the following night, Gauthier stopped 23 of 26 shots. When the team returned home to face the Kelowna Rockets in a weekend double header, he stopped 18 out of 20 shots in the Cougars’ 7-2 win Friday, followed by a 20-save shutout in a 4-0 win Saturday.  

In 64 WHL regular season games, Gauthier posted a 20-33-2-3 record, 3.43 GAA, 0.895 save percentage and three shutouts.
