Building Permits At All-Time High In 2018

PRINCE GEORGE – Building permits reached an all-time high last year of just over $186 million, thanks to multiple infrastructure projects. That’s a 26 per cent increase compared to 2017.  

There was a 29 per cent increase in private sector investment, along with a 50 per cent increase in the value of residential building permits. Between renovations and new development, there was a total of 515 permits issued.

The permit for the construction of Kelly Road Secondary School was the most valuable permit in 2018. The top 10 projects with the highest building permit value are: 

  • $28,322,950 for the new construction of Kelly Road Secondary School
  • $12,927,973 for the parkade next to City Hall: 
  • $6,700,000 for the apartment building in College Heights (Building B)
  • $5,855,000 for the apartment building in College Heights (Building A)
  • $5,200,000 in renovations at UHNBC
  • $3,500,000 for the Federated Co-Operatives Ltd. New Bulk Plant (BCR Industrial Park)
  • $3,000,000 towards the addition of the Show Lounge at Treasure Cove Casino
  • $2,600,000 for a new multi-family development on 3rd Avenue 
  • $1,600,000 for a new multi-family development on Vanier Drive 
  • $1,571,596 for a new single-family dwelling (West)
