PRINCE GEORGE – The Regional District of Fraser-Fort George’s call centre currently handles around 6000 calls per month. A new public safety investment strategy would help channel money towards upgrading the service’s capabilities.

The investment strategy comes with a price tag of just over $3 million dollars spread out over the course of five years. That money would go towards tying the 9-1-1 service in with the new Firehall No. 1, as well as upgrading the services infrastructure and providing new cell phone friendly technologies for callers.

The District’s 9-1-1 service currently dispatches more 79 fire and rescue agencies covering an area the size of the United Kingdom.
