New Firehall No. 1 Design Announced

PRINCE GEORGE – After a referendum and several years of planning, the New Firehall Number 1 design was announced today. The new Firehall Number 1 will be a significant upgrade over the current hall, both in size and capability.
The new hall will be located on Massey Drive, next to the YMCA and its central location will increase the area fire crews can respond to by 50%. In addition to being more central, the new hall will be significantly larger, with five bay doors, allowing for more vehicles to respond to any incidents that may occur.
The new fire hall number 1 will be three stories tall, with each floor having a specific purpose. The ground floor of the new hall will house the facilities fire suppression equipment. The second floor of the new hall is the location of the Fire Operations Coordination Centre, Emergency Operations Centre as well as fitness areas for crews and floor three will be home to the Fire Response Service.
The City expects that crews will break ground in the spring when temperatures are warmer and the ground had thawed. The new hall comes with a price tag of $15 million dollars.
