Crime Stoppers month wraps up with awards

PRINCE GEORGE- Crime Stoppers month wrapped up Thursday afternoon with the seventh annual Crime Stopper awards at the Prince George RCMP detachment. The awards recognize police officers in the community that show a high level of support and dedication towards the Crime Stopper program.

In 2018 Prince George Crime Stoppers saw roughly 600 tips with most of them being drug-related and other being missing person tips and wanted person tips.

This year saw the first ever co-officers of the year winners. Cst. Mike Mikkelsen and Cst. Dave Hallmark won the officers of the year award. The traffic services department won the general duty watch of the year award as well.

Prince George Crime Stoppers is one of 86 Crime Stopper programs throughout Canada that partner with local police, media and residents of the community to make a safer community.
