PRINCE GEORGE – A suspect was arrested Sunday after Quesnel RCMP received a report of a stolen pick-up that afternoon.

Police found the vehicle travelling north on Highway 97 towards Prince George. The suspect was then seen near Red Rock, about 30 kilometres south of PG and refused again to stop for police. Mounties intercepted the vehicle near the southwest end of Massey Drive where it collided with a police car.

Quesnel resident, Eric Roger Johnson, 27, was taken into custody and faces several charges including: theft of a vehicle, dangerous operation of a vehicle, impaired driving, assaulting a peace officer with a weapon, assaulting a peace officer, two counts of failing to stop for police and possession of property obtained by a crime valued at $5000 or more.

Police say alcohol was a factor and the suspect was transported to the hospital to be checked as a precaution.
