Wood stove rebate program intended to improve air quality

PRINCE GEORGE – Prince George can experience poor air quality in the winter thanks to its geography combined with fine particles in the air.

In an aim to combat air quality issues during colder months, the Prince George Air Improvement Roundtable is offering a financial incentive to residents to trade in their old wood stoves for newer models.

The air improvement roundtable is promoting the province’s campaign to get people to replace their old stoves by offering rebates of up to $650 depending on where a person lives.

Wood burning stoves can release a significant amount of fine particulate matter into the air which can result in health problems. People who replace their current wood stove will have plenty of options to choose from whether it be a new wood or pellet stove, or by going to natural gas. And almost every option will earn you a rebate.
