Hart developments could lead to more catchment, capacity issues at schools

PRINCE GEORGE — A new development is getting underway in the Hart bringing upwards of 75 units.

It will be at Chief Lake Road and Foothills Boulevard, consisting of various residential units and some seniors housing. The bulk of the buyers are likely to be starting families which means a good chance of more children coming to the area.

Catchment and capacity issues already exist for School District 57, and having to adjust for more students in the coming years could bring more problems to the mix. Shovels are expected to hit the dirt in about a year and a half, with people moving in another year after that which is a potential benefit for the school board. School District 57 Chair, Tim Bennett, said, “there is some space north of the Nechako but [the district] does watch the area closely because space is becoming limited.”
