PRINCE GEORGE – It’s the moment organizers have been working years for.  Competition for the 2019 World Para Nordic Skiing Championships will get underway Saturday, and the Canadian team is looking forward to racing on home turf.

Support from family and friends will be plenty,  as many of the Canadian team members will see their parents and siblings on the sidelines at Otway cheering them on, something that doesn’t happen as often when they compete overseas.

Decorated Paralympian Mark Arendz is looking forward to seeing his mom, dad, brother and sister in law on the sidelines cheering him on, “it’s been a little while since my parents have actually seen me race in person.  They try to always get a feed or watch it on TV.  Its going to be great,  especially now that we are at our best and it will hopefully be a successful week.”

When it comes to what event to watch,  the spirit of para athletes is strong – each has a unique story to tell of how they overcame impairment to become world class athletes.
