PRINCE GEORGE – An inability to stay out of the penalty box cost the Cougars their 16th straight loss to the Everett Silvertips Monday.

The first period saw the Cougars able to keep pace with the high flying Silvertips who are currently sitting in first place in the U.S. Division. Both teams tallied seven shots in the opening frame but the goalies stood tall, turning aside every shot.

In the second Everett began pulling away. The Cats took four penalties in the second frame and the Silvertips 8th place powerplay would capitalize on the man advantage twice. The Cougars would respond when Tyson Upper scored his 5th of the year.

The comeback would stop there are Everett would go on to add two more goals, taking the game 4-1. The two sides will go at it again Tuesday night at the CN Centre. Puck drop is 7 p.m.
