Collision involving train and grader in Telkwa

TELKWA — Update:  According to the Smithers RCMP, one person is in hospital following yesterday’s collision.

According to police, a CN train struck the road grader, injuring the person operating the grader.

“Neither of the train engineers was injured as a result of the collision,” says Sgt. Darren Durnin. “The grader operator is recovering from injuries sustained.”

He adds RCMP are continuing to gather details of the event while WorkSafeBC has already launched an investigation.

Earlier: Emergency crews are busy responding to a collision involving a train and a grader in Telkwa.

North District RCMP Cpl. Madonna Saunderson says the collision occurred just before 11 a.m. on Lawson Road near Quick Station Road.

No word yet on the status of the person driving the grader.
