PRINCE GEORGE – The Province’s 2019 budget was focused on supporting people with lower incomes, the little guy so to speak.

One of the groups the new budget focuses on is students in BC who are going to get a bit of a financial lift in the face of rising costs for post-secondary. The new budget will no longer see student’s paying interest on their student loans.

For the College of New Caledonia’s Student Union, removing interest from student loans has been something they have been looking into for some time, and the outcome is a positive one.

“Student’s Unions all across BC did a lot of work, including ours. So when the news came out we felt that it was awesome,” explained Harman Dandiwal, a member of the CNC Students Union.
