Timberwolves trio earns league all-star honours

It’s been just under a week since UNBC’s women’s basketball team was bounced from the CanWest Playoffs, but the league gave them reason to smile today. The league handed out All-Star team honours with three Timberwolves being named. Vasiliki Louka made history by becoming the first female UNBC T-Wolf to be a Canada West 1st Team All-Star. The Greek fifth-year led the country in rebounding, while also posting 18 double-doubles. On the 3rd Team All Stars, Maria Mongomo. This season marked the second straight year, the Spanish shooter finished top five in scoring and steals, and top ten in rebounding across the league. This marks Mongomo’s second All-Star. Men’s basketball star Jovan Leamy was also named a third-team all-star after breaking UNBC Basketball’s single-season scoring record, while leading the entire country in steals.
