The Cougars dropped their fourth straight decision last night to the Victoria Royals 4-3. It was a slow start for the Cougars who allowed two goals in the first six minutes of the game. The Cougars were heavily outshot 16-7 in the first but after a quiet second period, the Cougars outshot the Royals 19-5 in the third.

Former Cougar Kody McDonald opened the scoring three minutes in and then assisted on the Royals second goal three minutes later.

Josh Maser’s team-leading 27th goal got the Cougars on the board before Victoria scored another to take a 3-1 lead after 20 minutes. McDonald scored his second of the night for the only goal in the middle frame.

Matej Toman scored two minutes into the third and Reid Perepeluk added one in the final minute but it was too little too late for the Cougars. Taylor Gauthier was pulled after allowing four goals on 18 shots. Griffen Outhouse had the victory for the Royals.
