QUESNEL — Some tense moments in Quesnel this weekend.

Quesnel RCMP Sgt. Chris Riddle says just before 11 a.m. yesterday (March 3) police responded to a shots fired incident at a home in the Baker Creek area.

"Several family members were reported to be inside the residence at the time of the shots being fired," he says. "It is alleged the 52-year-old suspect, who was believed to be under the influence of alcohol, became upset inside his residence and began shooting within the residence."

Riddle says police attended and contained the scene.

"Police were able to successfully negotiate with the man to resolve the situation without any further harm to the man or the others inside the residence."

Police say no one was injured. Police are now working with the BC Prosecution Service to determine charges.

No names will be released.
