UPDATE: Highway 97 North opens to single lane alternating traffic

MACKENZIE — Update: According to Drive BC, the highway is now open to single lane alternating traffic.

Update: The North District RCMP says a chip truck fire is to blame for the Highway 97 North closure near the Pine Pass Summit.

Cpl. Madonna Saunderson says it appears no one has been injured in the incident though she does not know when the highway will reopen.

Drive BC says a vehicle fire has closed Highway 97 North between Kennedy Road and Azu Sub Road (11 kilometres south of the Pine Pass Summit).

A detour is currently not available.
