PRINCE GEORGE — A Prince George man has been arrested in connection with a 2016 hit-and-run in Kamloops.

Twenty-nine-year-old Joshua Joseph Pooli, previously from Kamloops, was arrested in Prince George today.

Police say in the morning hours of August 28, 2016, a female jogger was struck by a vehicle on West Athabasca Street in Kamloops.

They say the driver of the vehicle sped away without stopping or providing assistance. The jogger suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries.

“RCMP searched the area extensively and the suspect vehicle was found later that same day near the Halston Overpass. It had been stolen earlier in the morning,” says Kamloops RCMP Cpl. Jodi Shelkie.

“The suspect’s DNA was found inside of the vehicle but it did not match any of the samples within the National DNA Data Bank. Recently, the DNA was matched with the suspect who was from Kamloops but currently living in Prince George.”

She says Pooli will be taken to Kamloops where he will face the following charges: failing to stop at the scene of an accident causing bodily harm, possession of stolen property and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm.
