PRINCE GEORGE – The City’s Accessibility Committee presented City Council with its game plan for this year.

The work plan contains a number of initiatives, some around educating the public and City staff around accessibility requirements, helping City  Administration on categorizing and prioritizing findings from Civic Facility Audits. It also plans to partner with the Canadian Homebuilders Association to educate developers and home builders about the benefits of building accessible homes.

“Accessibility could be something that builders, I think, are more and more mindful of,” says Terri McConnachie, Executive Director of the Northern BC Homebuilders Association. “As the bulk of our community is getting older and as more consumers demand it.”
